The Living Institutions Project at the Systemic Investing Summit 2026
The Living Institutions Project team will facilitate a workshop on living systems–aligned investing at the Systemic Investing Summit, taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 14–16 April 2026.
Systemic Investing Summit 2026
The Systemic Investing Summit 2026 brings together practitioners, innovators, and thinkers in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to explore how investment practices can support long-term systemic change.
Thomas Holm and Sara Lindeman from The Living Institutions Project will participate in the summit and facilitate a workshop on living systems–aligned investing. The interactive workshop invites participants to explore a shift from traditional systems thinking focused on analysis and optimization, toward investing practices aligned with living systems and informed by applied complexity theory. Working with real community stories, participants will identify small, fundable micro-interventions within a simulated local context and observe how their investment choices shape patterns over time.
Building on this shared experience, the session will introduce key principles for living systems–aligned investing and open a dialogue around important questions: What would it take to direct capital toward strengthening systemic learning capacity rather than scaling predefined solutions? What if we invested in place-based emergent intelligence rather than predefined impact? And what if both sense-making and investment decisions were themselves distributed and emergent?
We look forward to contributing to the growing conversation on how finance can better support living, evolving systems.
